Experience the passion of mountaineering & climbing in the Dolomites
…and follow in the footsteps of world-famous mountaineers.
Nowhere else can surpass this for fantastic mountain scenery. It is no coincidence that Europe’s most famous mountaineers set out from this very place to conquer the Dolomites 200 years ago. Legendary climbing routes still bear their names. Mountaineering in the Dolomites means great climbing routes to the most beautiful mountain peaks in South Tyrol with detours into Tyrol and the Province of Belluno.
The village of Sexten (Italian: Sesto) and the Fischlein Valley enjoy an excellent reputation among mountaineers. And not only because of the world-famous Drei Zinnen (Three Peaks). Sepp Innerkofler, a famous mountain guide who was the first to conquer the north face of the Kleine Zinne, lived in the Fischlein Valley. Franz Innerkofler achieved lasting fame as the first person to climb the Große Zinne, the Dreischusterspitze, the Langkofels and the Paternkofels. Hans and Michael Innerkofler also made a name for themselves with numerous first ascents in the Dolomites.
The Bad Moos – Dolomites Spa Resort is a great starting point for lots of great climbing routes. To the south of the resort, the rock walls of the Sexten Sundial rise steeply to between 2582 and 3094 m. Each peak is named after the sun’s position. To the north, there is the lure of the equally famous Dreischusterspitze peak with a summit route or the very popular route around the mountain.
